A brand new

National Dance Award

This year the Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET) has sponsored a new Student of the Year Award. The search to find the 2009 winner began with the Council’s Accredited Vocational schools and Validated Awarding Organisations nominating students who then met for live auditions on the 24th of November at the British Ballet Organization headquarters in London.

Dame Beryl Grey, Brenda Last, Mike Dixon (CCNDA) and Liz Dale (CDET) were the judges as the students performed one dance piece of their choice (twice) in any style or genre they chose and were judged by the overall quality of their performance.

The standard of performance was extremely high, the task of selecting a winner very difficult indeed. Warmest congratulations to all competitors.

Further information on all aspects of the Council’s work is available from the Administrator, the Council for Dance Education and Training, Old Brewer’s yard, 17 – 19 Neal Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9UY. 020 7240 5703.
