Laura Bruña Rubio
(English National Ballet)
Spanish-born Rubio trained at the Royal Conservatoire in Madrid. She joined Stuttgart Ballet and then English National Ballet in 2006. While still ranked as an artist in the corps de ballet, she has made an impression in solo roles in the company’s classical repertoire as well as in David Dawson’s A Million Kisses to My Skin. She has been commended for her musicality and for her combination of femininity and bold attack in her dancing.

Begoña Cao
(English National Ballet)
Begoña Cao was born in London and studied at Arts Educational School before being accepted at the Royal Ballet School. In 1997, she joined English National Ballet and was promoted to first soloist in 2008. She has quickly become a favourite with audiences for her joyful dancing and excellent technical abilities. This year she made her debut in the dual roles of Odette/Odile in Swan Lake partnered by the youthful Esteban Berlanga, and gave an assured performance which contrasted well the softness of Odette with the flashy cunning of Odile.

Yuhui Choe
(The Royal Ballet)
Yuhui Choe comes from Kuyshu, the southernmost island of Japan and at 14 set off for Paris to study classical ballet under Daini Kudo. She joined The Royal Ballet in 2002 as a Prix de Lausanne apprentice and was promoted to first artist in 2006. She represented The Royal Ballet at the Erik Bruhn competition in Canada in 2007. Choe’s dancing offers clarity of movement, pristine technique and lightness in traditional ballets, while in contemporary works, she performs with steely precision and attack.
