Bolshoi Ballet
The Bolshoi Ballet is riding high under Alexei Ratmansky's leadership. He has revitalised the company and also extended the repertory, as well as revising existing productions. The dancers shine brightly both individually and as an ensemble, as could be witnessed last season not only in staples like Don Quixote but also in one-acters such as Twyla Tharp's In the Upper Room and the Messerer Class Concert, which displayed their extraordinary, seemingly effortless, virtuosity, stamina and charm.

The Royal Ballet
The Royal Ballet continues to stage ground-breaking and innovative works in commissioning ballets from a variety of choreographers. In appointing Wayne McGregor to be resident choreographer the Company has shown its commitment to produce new works and to broaden the repertoire. In addition, the revival of works from the archive has meant that the company heritage is kept alive. The history and tradition of the Royal Ballet is honoured and new talent is recognised.

Pursuing what has proved a successful formula since his appointment, Page makes the company engage with a repertoire that encompasses an ever surprising variety of works from diverse eras and contexts, such as 20th-century classics, Page’s own revisitations of classics such as The Nutcracker and Cinderella , modern works and new commissions.
