Rambert Dance Company
Through its various incarnations, from classical ballet to cutting edge contemporary, Britain's oldest dance company has always focused on innovation. Some of the most historic works of the 20th century were premièred by Marie Rambert's enterprising troupe. Since 1966, when the company moved away from its ballet roots, contemporary choreographers from mainland Europe and America have broadened its style immeasurably. Today, under Mark Baldwin's lively direction, the repertoire has continued to flourish through commissions from British-based choreographers such as Kim Brandstrup, Javier De Frutos and Rafael Bonachela. The highlight of the 2004-05 season was the premiere of Baldwin's own Einstein-inspired Constant Speed.
