 Nederlands Dans Theatre 2
Founded in 1978, the company was the brainchild of Jiri Kylian who wished to create a company of young dancers between the ages of 17 and 22. The international reputation of NDT II, led by Artistic Director Gerald Tibbs, attracts some of the finest young dancers from all over the globe. The sixteen-strong company, trained in classical ballet technique, perform in a modern repertory that reflects the principal choreographers who work with the main company. The May 2003 programme at Sadler’s Wells Theatre comprised Dream Play by Johan Inger, Shutters Shut and Subject to Change by Paul Lightfoot and Sol Leon 27’52” by Jiri Kylian and Minus 16 by Ohad Naharin. The quality of dancing and choreography was exceptional and confirmed NDT II’s popularity with London audiences.
