Tobias Batley
(Northern Ballet Theatre)

Tobias Batley joined Northern Ballet Theatre in 2004 and has subsequently distinguished himself in many soloist roles including Romeo, Harker ("Dracula") and Demetrius ("A Midsummer Night’s Dream"). He is a versatile dance-actor and has thrived in the repertoire created by artistic director David Nixon. He is an able comedian – his Demetrius being particularly memorable - but is nominated for Anthony, the leading male role in Nixon’s "Swan Lake", in which he gave a performance of remarkable and poignant intensity.

Esteban Berlanga
(English National Ballet)

Born in Spain, Esteban Berlanga trained at the Conservatoire in Madrid. He was a member of Europa Danse from 2003 to 2005 and joined English National Ballet in 2006. He was promoted to soloist in 2009, while taking on a number of leading roles, including Albrecht, Siegfried and Des Grieux in ENB’s premiere season of "Manon". He was chosen by David Dawson to appear in "A Million Kisses to my Skin" and to create a role in the duet "Faun(e)", in which he was the young partner to Raphael Coumes-Marquet’s maturer presence.

Born in the Ukraine, Sergei Polunin entered the Royal Ballet School in 2003 at the age of 13. In 2006 he won the Prix de Lausanne. That same year he also won the Youth America Grand Prix and an award at the Sixth Lifar International Ballet Competition. In 2007 he was named Young British Dancer of the Year; that same year he joined Covent Garden. At the Royal Ballet he first came to attention dancing the Bronze Idol in "La Bayadere" and in 2009 made an impressive debut as Solor in the same ballet. He was also promoted to First Soloist in 2009.
