Bolshoi Ballet
The Bolshoi Ballet is riding high under Alexei Ratmansky's leadership. He has revitalised the company and also extended the repertory, as well as revising existing productions. The dancers shine brightly both individually and as an ensemble, as could be witnessed last season not only in staples like Don Quixote but also in one-acters such as Twyla Tharp's In the Upper Room and the Messerer Class Concert, which displayed their extraordinary, seemingly effortless, virtuosity, stamina and charm.

In appointing Wayne McGregor to be resident choreographer the Company has shown its commitment to produce new works and to broaden the repertoire. In addition, the revival of works from the archive has meant that the company heritage is kept alive. The history and tradition of the Royal Ballet is honoured and new talent is recognised.
